Site suggestions

Hey, I really agree with Pesti statement of it would be really nice if the aoe IV community had a forum. That was one of the things I really liked about the aoe3 community. So some suggestions to make this site work, I would make the design of the site nicer, similar to how esoc has it.
The background of forums has a theme of aoe3 and the colors are nice instead of a basic white background. Also main thing is we need a side panel to display current live aoe4 streams. I still use esoc fourms everyday even tho I dont post there just to see the live aoe4 streams and be able to click on the streams from there.

I like the clean layout and color scheme of this forum. imo you don't need to change a lot, just add some little aoe4 flairs here or there (e.g. topic icons, etc.)

It's crazy to me, but that background was just some wooden texture I randomly googled and recolored to brown in gimp back in 2015. I can't believe it's still the site background. Warms my heart.

hah ya it's so clean and fits so well with the aoe3 forums and game. I've always really enjoyed how well made esoc site is.

I disagree with iNcog's sentiment. This site lacks personality. That doesn't mean it needs to look crazy with textures, but I think a modern sleek design in lines with the game's aesthetics gives it more authenticity for new users. Take AoE4World's page for instance, the use of colour and variety in text makes the user experience feel a lot better. To be fair, it isn't a forum but I think something along the lines of GUA's suggestion is a good solution.

Take for instance the white background. Although this is a perfectly valid decision, it also contributes to making it feel basic and maybe not as authentic as sites that manage to stay within the darker desaturated blue tone established by AoE4. It almost feels too "serious", the colour usage from the heavy whites and persistant blues aren't very relaxing on the eyes nor on our perception of colour--ending up feeling like a very basic governmental page where you have to file in some papers.

I don't think it is the right vibe for a game, nor for a forum that wants to foster a community.

I would really love to see a dark mode here. The white is just too bright.
Recently found the start.gg extension to make it dark, and it's such a relieve for the eyes.

Brown/wooden design sounds like a really good idea tbh.

@GiveUAnxiety thanks for this feedback. Everyone should be seeing it. Is it desktop or mobile you're using? Could you try a different browser and let me know if desktop snd I'll try work out where the issue is. Thanks

I don't see anything, neither on desktop: bing and chrome, or on phone with duckduckgo and chrome.

I think it's cool you created your own site. However, I think it would be a much better idea to de-frag the community and not create another channel for discussion.

In my opinion, you should merge this site with aoe4world, which is already visited by a large portion of the community. You can contribute to their server costs, and they can provide you with more traffic. It makes a lot more sense to do that imo instead of trying to build a sub-community here.

thanks for your suggestion. The way I see it, we both server quite different purposes. Aoe4world is an stats/profiles/ranking website. We're tournament organizers.
While it's true that not all the people that visit one site would visit the other, it kinda makes sense to keep things separate
