Genesis-03.jpgPlease note: Details are subject to change, yet in order to keep you up to date with our plans, please find below the structure as it stands. Please check back frequently for any changes. A full tournament handbook will be published in due course.

Dates:

Qualifiers - November 6th, 3pm GMT
Quarter-finals - November 13th 3pm GMT
SF's and Finals - November 14th 3pm GMT

Participation:

The Genesis $20k will be a completely open event, meaning anyone can enter to the qualifying round. The only theoretical limitation will be the number of spots available, which is 512. As the game is brand new, we don't know if that cap will be surpassed and so in the name of fairness we will make sure at least 450 of those spots are completely open when the registration opens, and we'll give plenty of notice so it will be first come first served. In order to enter you'll need an AOE IV account and to have registered on smash.gg, but once again, we'll give plenty of notice, and registration won't open until at least November 3rd, giving plenty of time to purchase the game (or through GamePass).

Seeds:

There will only be 16 seeds for this event. The tentative plan is for these seeds to be the top 16 players on the AOE IV ranked ladder, but this is subject to change as it's currently unclear whether there will be one and how stable it will be. The seeds will play the full qualifying round, but will have the advantage of being kept apart from each other.

Qualifiers:

The structure of qualifying day is as follows:

Round of 512 (bo1)
Round of 256 (bo1)
Round of 128 (bo1)
Round of 64 (bo1)
Round of 32 (bo3)
Round of 16 (bo3)

Main Event:

The main event will take place on November 13th and 14th.

Quarterfinals: (Bo5)
Semifinals: (Bo5)
Finals: (Bo7)

Prizes:

Due to the anticipated large pool, there will be prize funds allocated for losers in the Ro16, despite not making the finals

1st $7,000
2nd $3,000
3rd $1,500
4th $1,500
5-8th $750
8-16th $500

Cheating and Respect

There will be zero tolerance for personal insults, sexism, racism or homophobia.God sportsmanship is required from all players. These rules apply to casters and players. Any instance of cheating or hacking will result in instant disqualification and a lifetime ban from all future EGC events.

Maps and Civ Rules to be announced shortly.

This is amazing news. Can't wait to see all the games and try to play myself. The Rules are also something I'm super interested in seeing. Wonder if it will be allowed to just use 1 civ like SC2 always has used, or if it will require switching/drafting like AoE2. Whatever you guys decide this is the probably the first Major tournament and it will shape the way future ones are made. The maps too! I hope there is diverse maps used, and if the alternate win conditions are included (I hope they are). Can't wait for more details and hope these forums are an active place for competitive discussions.

Very Nice!

Very excited but scared of mirror-per-map matches, it will not be fun to watch if all games are this, games are far from balanced to the beginning.
Players will figure out what Civilisation is the best on each Map with each win condition at the Top LvL the 2 weeks before the tournament begins.

Hey @WeezyWonka and @spray4fun. I'm sorry this event is full, but I hope you'll spectate and enjoy. There are many many more open events coming soon so please do not be discouraged. We really want people to feel comfortable playing in an event for the first time. Follow on Discord and you'll know early next time. Pesti.
